However the most commonly held opinion appears to be that Ford recommend changing the cam belt after 10 years or 100,000 miles (whichever comes soonest) but third party guides (such as the Haynes' manuals) suggest 70,000 miles as a safer figure to work with.
What you need to be aware of is that a garage will charge you at least £350 to replace the cambelt (and that will be a significant amount in terms of the value of the vehicle).
If you have owned the vehicle for a long time and not thrashed it, I’d be tempted to leave it, knowing the vehicle will probably only last another 4 years max, anyway.
