Chocolate Dilemma

I am fat and  also have metabolic syndrome. Until recently I have stuck to an Intermittent fasting diet and have lost two stones.  I plan to get back on track in the new year.

Today I was given an unexpected gift that included a enormous bar of Dairy Milk chocolate.

Can I freeze portions of the chocolate and just defrost a small amount at a time?

If not I will have to either give it away or eat it all in one day and make myself ill.

Help!😁

It will keep for ages - just have a small amount each day (or are you saying that if it's readily available you won't be able to resist eating it all?)

Break it into squares, place in a sealed polythene box in a cool place (fridge?) and have a piece whenever you want. No need to freeze at all.

I don't think you can freeze chocolate in a bar form, (I'm always learning, so dunno) Part of a gift I think breaking it into to chunks and seperate it for different days is a good idea, or you could send it to someone to resist temptation ... like me for eg... 😋

If it is open and available I will eat it all.  I thought that if I froze it I would have tto defrost it before eating it.

Yes you can freeze it perfectly well, as long as it's in an airtight container, I've done it. But agree you should break it into pieces or chunks - will make freezing/defrosting easier,

I really don't know Susan... can you resist diabetes aside (very important I know) but very well done so far on losing weight and two stone is a a lot.

Yes break into chunks and freeze between bits of grease proof paper in a box once frozen it can be transferred to a ziplock bag if preferred.

think I might melt it and use it to make a tray bake which I'd cut into squares and freeze.🍰 I know it's adding to the calories but have a small portion at a time.

Don't make yourself ill!

Give it too a thin  10 year old !

You could also break it into cubes and make a hot chocolate drink with one or two cubes and skim milk

Put it in a food bank box at the supermarket you will feel good, and won't have to fight temptation

I would be inclined to give it away to avoid temptation

They'd be a riot.

We have a block in the fridge at the moment and eat a square or 2 a day. It keeps fine.

I give unwanted gifts away; sweets and biscuits to the food bank and anything else to the charity shop.
It saves all the anxiety of temptation!
