When I worked in ford dealerships we were always being asked what lx etc stood for - so a salesman turned round and said:

L - luxury

LX - luxury extra

Si (pre zetec) - Sports Injection

Ghia - its got all the gear

Ghia X - extra gear

Good job there isn't a Ka Sports injection - it'd be the Kasi (try it in an old Steptoe voice)
