If you hit the car with another car while you were trying to squeeze between the illegally parked car and the building on the other side, you are both at fault.
If you were backing up to park at the curb while hitting the illegally parked car, I do not believe you were at fault since your perception of distance to the curb and to the back bumper might have been thrown off because of it.
If you hit it with a football, you might be at fault after all.
You shouldn't take life too seriously Electrochem, this does appear to be a hypothical question after all. Where is your sense of humour? You don't need my vehicle details, as a considerate person my vehicle never ever obstructs the highway but as it is bigger than most, you would probably come off worse.
Actually this does have a serious side because when fire engines are obstructed they often push cars out of the way and cause quite a bit of damage, something people should think about when parking. I've also heard of police officers deliberatly directing lorries into cars when they are causing an obstruction to get them moving past. So my answer is not as silly as it seems!
