Any petrol engine relys on fuel and oxygen, add a spark, big bang, rotate. If you increase either the fuel OR the oxygen, you have to increase the other one. It seems that this turbonator thingy just forces a bit of extra air in, which may make it burn a little more efficiently, but claims of 35 bhp are a little incredible.
Also bear in mind that these are American tests. American cars tend to have larger engines, so any power gains are easier to find (alledgedly) and also American bhp is not the same as British bhp, theirs is more like a Shetland pony.
Having said all that, I would love to be proved wrong. I would love to see you gain something, but think all you will realistically gain is a dent in your wallet. If the things are so good, why are they not fitted OEM?
I'd file this "discovery" with those magnetic things you attach to your water pipes that eliminate limescale. Utter pants. Expect to see the "inventor" on Watchdog being investigated for fraud sometime in the future!
The Turbonator is a non-moving vortex generator that goes inside your air intake hose, right after your air filter.
It is made entirely from stainless steel, requires no maintenance, and only takes a few minutes and a screwdriver to install. If you don't feel comfortable installing it, have your mechanic do it for you. If he doesn't install it for free, find a new mechanic.
More Help Anyone?
If the things are so good at giving extra power, they would be fitted to F1 cars.
Extracting power from an engine is not about bolting on extras, it's more about optimizing what you already have. Good leads, plugs, ignition timed correctly, correct fuelling.
Sir, if you take my advice, ignore the bolt on go faster goodies. and spend your money on an hours session on a rolling road, and then things will be tuned properly.BHP sells cars, torque wins races, economy comes with sensible driving.
