The horn on my Peugeot 307 keeps going off when I'm driving along. It's really embarrassing as when i'm at lights, people think I'm some road rage mad loony bint.

My Peugeot dealer reckons it needs a new control panel at a cost of 170 + VAT + labour.

Are they taking the michael?

They are probably correct, many modern cars are "multiplexed". This means that instead of having your usual wiring from the button you press through the fuse box to the end system, all commands go through a control module first.
So although a horn might be one of the simplest circuits on a car it still has a computer involved.

just run a live wire to your horn from a new conection.push button will do for legal reasons.how often do you use a horn?170 is taking the michael big time.any dealership wants to make money.name of the game i'm afraid.
