i have a p reg escort it drives fine but when im driving say around 30mph if i put my foot down the revs thrash up real quick even thou im only touching the accelerator whats the problem???

new clutch jobby i'm afraid,and make sure they replace the pressure plate as well as the clutch plate,not forgetting the thrust bearing.ask them to shove the old ones in the boot.too many cowboys working in garages.

yes this is clutch slip,caused by wear and tear or bad driving habits like riding the clutch instead of applying the handbrake on hills. it is worth buying genuine ford parts when replacing the clutch,pressure plate and thrust bearing a bit more expensive but last longer. most garages will tackle this job. It can be done on a d i y basis in 5 hours, very dirty and assistance is required on dropping the gear box, but even so it is a straight forward enough job with good results.
