I have a fiat punto Y reg and when I went out to it this morning the steering was really heavy and was almost impossible to move. Obviously the first thing that I checked was to see if I had a flat tyre - no so. Any ideas??

The Fiat Punto uses an electrical power steering system, thats what allows it to have a "city" mode.

My guess is that your cars battery is low and not providing enough power to the system, Another symptom of this is when you turn the wheel and it jerks back in the other direction, as if you have to fight it.

Make sure the battery is properly charged or take it to a garage and see.
