does my bmw 318i se have a cambelt or chain the car is 2001 model

also my wife has a 2001 c class merc does this have a belt or chain

would imagine both cars would be fitted with belts...

chains were heavy and noisy. chains are a thing of the past, especialy on the like of BMW and MERCS.

Even though he uses blue printing now his answers are still wrong!

Both mercs and BMWs have chain Camshaft belts on some if not all of their cars! check with the dealers for both cars.

Chains are still used on many upmarket powerful cars.
