Danerous car worry
Hello, I recently changed my car as the old one I had been driving had become unreliable and pretty much 'knackered'. It failed a couple of MOTs and had become a bit of a money pit. The last straw was a 'collapsed' wheel bearing which I had repaired but the mechanic said the wheel/axle (?) stud was dangerously worn and the wheel could come off at any time. I was understandably concerned and as I was planning a change of car anyway decided this was the time to do it. I bought my next car at a second hand dealership and explained the reason for wanting to get rid of my old car. The car dealer offered to 'take it off my hands' for free claiming it was not worth anything and said he was going to drive it straight to the scrap merchants that day. To be honest I was relieved to be rid of it and very pleased with my 'new' car. I have been content for the last three weeks. I had a phonecall from my son today to tell me that he had just seen my old car being driven around the city. I was shocked and very worried. I was not asked to fill in any paperwork as the car dealer said he would do all that was necessary to scrap the car. I let him have the registration documents and everything. Is there anything I can do? Have I done anything wrong?
Regards, Sarah.
