A little advice please. Does anyone know of any problems with buying ex channel island cars e.g. Fiesta. Approx. 1yr. old with 1000 miles on the clock. Are these a good buy?. Also would there be a potential rust problem?. Thanks in advance. Eric.

Hi, I bought a Renault which came from the channel islands with about 1200 miles on it and it was basically a new car and never gave me any problems except one which became a major headache.
When it was registered in the UK the dealer had three all the same except color and they were registered with sequential number plate numbers - BUT the engine and chassis numbers were not the correct ones, they were from one of the other two cars so the registration documents did not match the car, no problem in the UK but I exported to the car to somewhere that they expect people to try and ''fiddle the books'' and they checked the numbers and the car sat in the customs compound for 5 months while we got the mess sorted out.
