Another parking ticket

Got a ticket the other day but hid it in the glove box so the missus don't see, only I forgot about and it has now doubled.

Do you reakon I can say that some kids must have ripped it off when I get the reminder and pay �40 instead of the �80 it will cost me today.

You can try, but you are unlikely to get away with it.

Send a cheque dated today with �40, and a post-dated cheque for next month for �40, and an apology letter, and ask if that will be acceptable. Should be OK, but they won't let you off the extra penalty - any excuse you can come up with, and a lot more, they have heard already.

Treat them like human beings, be nice, and polite, and you'll be OK. Try and pulll the wool, and they get cross, and then they hammer you.

Just pay the �40 now using the original ticket and blame the Post office if there are any come backs.

Whatever you do, don't immediately say 'some kids must have ripped it off', because you'll sound like you already knew about it! You have to pretend this is the first you heard of getting a ticket. Be nice to them, and you might get away with it. Is your missus that scary?

Above answers are correct, be nice, when I drove around London I got away with 75% of the tickets I got by complaining and telling a story, always honest of course?

Why not just look where you're parking next time and learn from your mistakes?

Andy,If you have a valid reason for parking where you did,or a reasonable excuse for doing so ,then tell them this.I was forever getting tickets,because i always needed to be parked close to the premises i was working at.

But a polite, factual, apologetic letter often works 90% of the time

If you havent got a good reason,then you'll have to face the consequences of parking illeagally, and the wroth of your Missus if she finds out.
