Can anyone give me a clue about this please.

my car first started cutting out about a week ago, when I was reversing, I dipped the clutch to put back into 1st gear, the engine just died, it took ages to start again, as though there was no fuel getting through. it has been getting worse throughout the week, and now will not fire up atall. I am desperate because I live in leeds and work in manchester, so as you can imagine I rely on my car somewhat.

Does anyone have any ideas what could be the problem?

Vectra's were bad for perished leak off pipes taking air in if they a braided you need to replace them with 4 new rubber leak off's & new t-piecesx3, also check water for signs of oil as the injector seals in the head use to leak oil into the injector nozzle therefore contaminating the diesel with oil, they were the two most common problems, hope this is of some help sorry its late just joined tonight.
try this: turn the key in ignition but dont stat it press the fobe if one button dont work try the other and hold the button for about 15 secs .
