Does anyone own a Hyundai Santa Fe and use it for towing ? I'm considering buying one but need to know if it's any good for towing , particularly horse trailers. Any other suggestions for suitable vehicles received with thanks. (no discoveries i can't afford one !)

Living in the western U.S., I can't imagine towing horse trailers with less than a half ton pick-up equipped with a towing package to cool the transmission, custom hitch and a V-8 engine. Having said that, if you limited the Santa Fe to a single horse trialer of no more than 1,000 pounds and the trailer was equipped with its own brakes you might make do. If you are in hilly country it will add to the stress on the rather small V-6 engine. At the very least assure that it has a transmission cooler for towing. Best of luck...

Thanks Clanad, maybe I will revert to plan A and buy a Toyota Hilux Surf instead. Sounds like a better idea to me .

a good towing car would be a toyota landcruiser amazon as it has a torquey 4.2 td engine
