my ford radio is showing locked 10.the radio is a rds 5000 serial no-m124437.1998 is the year of the reg.escort lx.any help please let me know i am clueless.thanks.

Youre code is 2358, I don't know how you put it in though.

press and hold preset 1=2 preset 2=5 preset 3=5 preset4=8 but if it says 10 it means that u have used the 10 chances u r allowed to enter the code b4 the unit locks try leaving the ignition on for a hour to see if that resets it failing that it may need to get unlocked, should cost around �15

locked 10 sounds like its had too many attempts to input the code: if the code does work thats good but if not you may need to get it recoded (from a Ford dealer, possibly elsewhere)
