6 cd changer in a 406 (clarion)

the cd changer in my 406 has gone wonky ! it can find and work its way through the discs, but isnt able to read them. it got water in it during the winter. i took it out and dried it slowly over the course of 2 days. put it on a radiator in the house, with a thick wad of kitchen roll under it to prevent overheating. it was dry as a bone when i put it back in the car. have even used a laser cleaner with no joy.

any ideas would be appreciated. "thanks in advance. "
