For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Could be that the fuel tank vent is blocked, this allows air in/out of the tank to stop the build up of pressure/vacuum. Obviously as the engine uses fuel out of the tank then air must enter to keep the pressure the same as the atmosphere, if the vent is blocked a vacuum can build up which stops fuel to leave the tank and the engine will stop. You can easily check this out by driving with the filler cap loose for some time and see if the problem goes away.
