Remember it IS a 4 x 4 so its primary purpose is to be able to handle off-road conditions. Thus said, it manages to adapt its suspension to on-road and handle well on hard surfaces too. God knows what it would cost fr a suspension overhaul when the tie comes. Off road the Cayenne is pretty good, much better than any other non-LandRover vehicle. In fact it is the only vehicle not made by LandRover which can actually complete their test track ! Forget your ************ Shotguns and Tonka Landcruisers, the Cayenne is a real off-roader. Just the same as the Vee-dub Toe-rag, exactly the same in fact. To be honest I find it much more fun to use driving skills rather than technology to get me around deeply rutted, muddy fields - so give me an old LandRover on a coil-sprung RangeRover chassis over the Cayenne/ToeRag anytime ! and if you really want to sort out who's who, try wading them across a river - then you'll see which is the best 4 x 4 x far !
kepla.............. the landrover is a fine vehicle, posibly the best 4x4 by far!! but it doesnt do anything for me?
unlike most 4x4 owners,i will take mine off road as part of my job,but i very much like the look of the cayenne, but i would be scared of the repair cost and service bills?
catso........ i never looked at it that way before, perhaps its because i dont put people in "brackets"!!, but thanks for the reply!!
Did you catch the one on Top Gear last Sunday, Hammond drove it down a mountain. Not really off-road, it was all gravel tracks. It didn't seem that impressive, considering, and he said the ride (this was a sporty edition) was dreadful, the tyres and suspension were no good for off-road. It made some dreadful grinding noises, which he said 'sounded expensive'. Not that it mattered, in the end, as crashed it!
