my friend has a standard escort 1.8 si and has dump valve on that so must be a way to get it on mine...my friends was on when he bought it and his aint a turbo
the whole idea of a dump valve is to release pressure in the inlet manifold when throttle is closed which otherwise would cause turbo impellor to slow down pretty rapid. if you aint got a turbo then you aint got no pressure, you only got vacuum. the dump valve aint there just to make heads turn, it actually serves a purpose. saab turbos have them fitted as standard and they dont even make a noise.
sounds like an escort turbo with a blown engine has had a 1.8 engine dumped in it. trust me my dear boy - if it hasn't got a turbo, it doesn't need a dump valve.
