When you buy a car (second hand), can you drive it home straightaway, surely you won't be insured?

Or do you arrange insurance prior to driving it home or what?

You normally arrange cover before you drive it home. If you buy from one of those places that let you drive away in an hour, they usually arrange insurance for you there and then that you can cancel as soon as you get home and arrange your own.

no not a half wit. you must have a minimum of third party. unless the car is registered under some one elses name and they have full cover on another vehicle they can then drive it but are only covered third party. arange insurance its the safest way. supermarket.com or confused.com. you only need to entre your details once. dont forget pass plus that will help you out on costs.

You can insure it here to drive away from the garage, gives you more time to shop around
