Well quite a number of the workforce in Blackpool have been laid off due to their being insufficient orders on the books.

The young Russian guy bought TVR with the intention of investing money to develop new models and increase marketing. So far he has done nothing. To add to that they have announced that they are closing the factory in Blackpool but remain tight-lipped about where it may relocate to.

Blackpool Council have worked extremely hard to find alternative premises with good motorway access which competes with any other offers. However, the Russian gentleman has not made his intentions clear and refuses to speak to the press.

So I guess in summary, the future is unclear.

Oops- for 'their' read 'there' !!

thats a shame if they do go out of business!!

i hope the russian guy pulls his finger out and sorts it out!!

ps......why did i think that tvr was based in the norwich area???

hello

You may have been thinking of Lotus they are in Norfolk

yes...thank you, you are quite right, i was mistaking it for lotus!!

Well the latest news from Blackpool is that the future of the car plant is still in doubt.

No response to the Blackpool Council's competitive offer of other premises in the locality.

Finally some good news - TVR have announced that the main factory will remain in Blackpool, just relocate to larger, more accesible premises. Some assembly will take place elsewhere and the HQ will move to Lancaster.

The owner of TVR Mr Smolenski, said he wants TVR to be building up to 1,000 cars a year by 2008, said: "The TVR workforce are highly talented and crucial.
"We don't have anyone but the workers they are the company."
He added: "I am more passionate about TVR now than when I bought it. I have never thought about walking away."

I stand corrected ! Information from The Blackpool Gazette 16/06/2006
