What defects or faults are related with when the fault light Vertical spanner in car symbol remains on when starting from cold and when the engine has reached approx half the running temperature, then the light goes out. How can this be reset or what causes this light to stay on. The can manual sugggests to contact the dealership. Surely there are a number of reason for the light to stay on. DKM

As it says in your handbook there's an unspecified electrical fault somewhere that needs to be checked out. Any competent auto electrician will be able to diagnose the fault a lot cheaper than a dealership whose hourly rates are usually ridiculously high.
Better to play safe and get it seen to sooner rather than later.
Could be that it is telling you that the car will soon be due for servicing and stays on for a certain length of time before switching off having done it's job.

So there is not a defect or fault.

The warning can usually be switched off if you know how to do it.

Ref Tourman's response, that is exactly what I would like to know how to reset the light. I am pretty sure like you say that it is some sort of service reminder, does anyone know how to reset this light?
All I can do is to tell your the way I do it on my Laguna.

Cycly through the computer till you get the miles to go to service then press and hold the reset button, (the one that zeros your trip meter) until the reading reverts to miles to next service and the spanner should dissapear.

Give it a try.
The service interval advisor shows up as "INSP" in the trip recorder of my Vauxhall. This returns to the normal trip meter setting after about 15 seconds.
If you have a warning light staying on for any length of time it could be an expensive folly to put off getting it checked out.
i twice had to take my corsa to dealer because that light kept coming on. i had to get a new electronic bit ( dont know what it is called ) under warranty. safe bet....get it checked as soon as you can.
