My car is using too much oil. i forever seem to be filling it up. Other than an oil leak, what could it be?

A lot of manufacturers these days fill the engines from new with good quality synthetic oil which does exactly what it's supposed to do - keeps metal parts away from each other. Trouble is, you need a bit of metal on metal action so the engine beds in and seals itself. Otherwise oil will get past the rings and get burnt off. A common problem on VW group cars including Audis, I believe.

just be carefull if the car is beding in ( running in ) you must check the oil on a constent base due to the oil consumption while running the motor in. how ever if the motor is old the thickness of the oil is very important. you can not use a synthetic base oil on a old motor it will just burn of quicker. if you drive quick and flate change and speed every where, yes your motor is going to burn oil quickly . if the motor is old try using a thicker grade etc 60 grade just remember worm the motor up before you start driving. because of its viscosaty thickness if it still burns old after that sell the car and by a push bike.
