My favourite London restaurant, St John, does some superb in-house ice creams occasionally on its dessert menu. So far I've tried honeycomb, lemon curd and praline flavours and they've all been top-notch. Of course, I can't compare with Joe's of Swansea but you've made me want to try it.
My friend Penny served up a gorgeous home-made orange and lemon ice cream when I had dinner at her house years ago. I always fondly remember that one.
A couple of years back we were driving back from a trip to Kent and stopped off at a farm shop in East Sussex, where I had a luscious blackberry ice cream. And I can't go without mentioning my Mum's home-made kulfi, especially the cardamom.
Those are the best ones I can remember. I'm sure others will nominate various Haagen Daaz and Ben & Jerry's etc, some of which are very good, but for me you can never beat a home-made one. Of the retail ones, Hill Station do some excellent ones.
