Very smooth easy starter
Problem
Really heavy blue smoke on overun, getting worse.
can the valve seals deteriate so baddly or is there other possibilities ?

Valve seals sound like favourite to me...
hi its possible valve stem rubbers but heavy blue all the time sound more like piston rings. you have to take head off the engine to change valve stem rubbers i would change the rings at the same time hope this helps

The smoke is only on the overun, not all the time. The smoke now is much worse than a few months ago.
Is there any treatment to buy a little time andd get the rest of the summer out of the car before stripping ???
Try a couple of tins of Wynns engine treatment in it - it's amazing stuff and will probably buy you some time until you strip the head.
