just had a hydraulic pipe replaced on my clutch now the gears crunch going into 4th up and down the box and reverse. could the garage have done anything when they replaced the pipe? the pipe went from the master cylinder to the slave on the clutch if thats any use.
It sounds as if the system has not been bled right, try pumping the peddle a few times and if there is air in the system you will feel a difference in the peddle after 3or 4 pumps.
Yep, it does sound like air in the hydraulic oil, the problem is that liquids (oil) does not compress but gas (air bubbles) do, so if there is air in the system when you press the pedal down the air compresses and the other end of the clutch mechanism will not move as far as it should so the clutch will not fully disengage, hence the crunch - NOT good for the gearbox, get it sorted ASAP.
thanks guys. I'll get onto the garage on monday and get them to sort it. just wanted to make sure it was their fault before i went in and went aff ma heed.
