Since you could by a Corrado VR6 brand new I'm guessing a VR6 engine would fit. Possibly the nearest fit would be Audi TT Quattro running gear, but then you'd have to have a gearbox adapter made, adjust the prop shaft lengths, have all new suspension mountings made etc etc. For the same cost of making it awd you could probably by a brand new Porsche 911 Turbo.
I presume you mean a Mk4 Golf VR6 engine, which is the same engine as the Corrado VR6, except with a slightly smaller cylinder head. The Golf was a 2.8Lt and the Corrado a 2.9Lt. The VR6 Corrado had other differences over the lesser models, like a stronger front anti-role bar to cope with the extra weight of the bigger engine. Why not just buy a Corrado VR6 from the off? Great cars, (I had one for five years), lots better than the Golf IMO. I cant comment on making it AWD, as it is it handles well for a FWD car, and as Skids has said, I would think it would be very expensive to do.
