Mr. Clutch - Is It Really Free?

I'm going to have my brakes and clutch tested tomorrow at Mr. Clutch, and they say they will do it free of charge. But is it really? Is it not in their interests to "find" a fault and charge for it? Does anyone have any experience of them, and if so, are they on the level?

I have had lots of dealings with Mr CLutch during the course of my various jobs in the motor industry. They normally use a "reconditioned or remanufactured" clutch which are always of inferior quality. No doubt when they check the vehicle they will find extra work that "needs" doing. I would either go somewhere else or make sure you get a second opinion on what they tell you needs doing. They are not the most trustworthy of garages in my opinion.

not Mr Clutch but.......

my wife took her car to our local tyre fitter who i have an acount with for a new tyre the other day, she didnt tell them it was being put on my acount and they dont know her, they put the tyre on and kindly told her that the brake discs were dangrously thin and the pads were very worn,....she obviously was very worried and asked how much they would change them for her........�300. she said that she would speak to me before she put it on the acount ,they asked who i was which she told them, he then said " oh, i didnt realise you are rugeleyboys wife, dont worry about the brakes,they will last ages"!!!!

i checked them when she came to my place and there is nowt wrong with them at all.....so the moral of this true story is....... get someone you know to check them first!!!!!!
