Have just purchased "M" reg Mondeo 2.0 GLX Auto. It has a 11 mth mot 59000 miles. What precautions can I take as no service history apart from old mot's? Oil change, cambelt, brakes etc. and estimate of cost.

Yeah, at that sort of mileage the car will benefit from a full service and cambelt change. Get yourself a decent workshop manual for the car and then start working through the service items one by one. It will help you get to kow the car properly and build your confidence in it - you'll know what jobs have been done properly. I'd suggest you change all fluid - not just Engine oil. Brake fluid absorbs watervapour over time and the gearbox oil is probably getting a little tired. A complete change of coolant will help flush out any crap from the cooling system and you'll know the anti-freeze is fresh. Total parts cost will probably be in the 100 to 150 region (assuming you need brake pads but not new discs) unless you spot anything else you'd like to get done while you have your hands dirty.
