I'm about to hire a car for a week and am worried about the high excess charged by hire companies. I know I can pay a waiver to get around this but that bumps the cost up quite a bit. I've seen a special insurance policy you can buy to cover you for the excess which is cheaper than the hire company's waiver but I have never heard of the company (DailyExcess.com part of InsuranceForCarHire.com).

Does anyone have any experience of this company or this type of insurance? Would I be able to get the same thing with a company like Directline? Thanks
