traffic increases towards the city centre
for a project i need to state reasons for traffic increasing as you move closer to the central business district and other factors which might affect it.
So far i know that there is an increase in commuters due to counter-urbanisation. Large roads + motorways link up with older narrower roads in the centre causing congestion. Traffic is also decreased because of ringroads and out of town retail centres.
Have i missed anything?

I have to travel extensively and now instead use "audio conferences", as the team I work with are spread over the whole of the UK, thus reducing dead travelling time. Traffic could be further decreased if more employers had "homeworker" programmes/incentives in place for employees, this would dispense with pointless commuting when the job could be done from a home office set-up. Just a few thoughts...hope it helps!?
