i have been driving for a year but have owned and insured a car for 3 years. does this mean i have 3 years no claims or just the 1? im getting quotes for renewing car insurance and some let me put 3 years down and others say i can't as have only been driving a year.

dont tell them u aint been driving for them 2 years, if u have been insured for the 3 yrs and no claims or anything, then u should put down u have 3 yrs no claims. as long as u can provide the documents provin u have 3 yrs no claims u should get the 3 yrs no claims

You don't seem to have got an answer yet, so I'll have my 4 penn'th.

Unless the forms require you to use another definition, you have 3 years NCB. You've had insurance for 3 years, and not claimed against it.

You usually also get asked about how long you've had a licence, so the company should be aware that you only have 1 year's driving experience.

(I'm not an expert, that's merely my opinion)
Whoever insured you for the three years you talked about will be able to provide documentary proof of 3 years NCB. If you can't produce this proof to your new insurer, they'll either make their own enquiries or assume you don't have any NCB.
