Two weeks ago i got my first car with air con'(vauxhall meriva)but any time it rains(even lightly) the windows steam up very badly and very quickly and i've got to put the air con' on full blast to clear it then keep it on.
I had an old laguna before and it did'nt give me half the bother , yes the windows would steam up but i only had to put the fan on at setting one or two to clear it....am i doing something wrong!!!

Hi David21
try cleaning the inside of screen to remove any wax or polish that may have been used on it before you got it.
vauxhalls are rubbish for steaming up easily. i had two and both mist up easy, plus when you try to clear it , it just won't go.for this reason i will not have another one.
Aircon on most vehicles operates in recirculation mode, the side effect of this is misting of the windows in damp weather. Try alternating its' use between fresh incoming air and recirculation. However, it may be that you have a water leak into the car from outside or a coolant leak from the heater matrix.

Surely the whole point of aircon is that you leave it on all the time. Personally. I prefer to open a window.
1 Do as the Suzuki man says make sure the screen is clean inside.

2 Air con works in fresh air mode all the time unless recirculate is switched on, it will steam up if you have it on recirculate.

3 You should not have air con on all the time, knocks your mpg down about 3-4 mpg. It should be used for about an hour each week though to keep it lubricated or the seals will deteriate.

4 As it is your first car with air con have you had it serviced? Take a look here...............

Update......I was advised by friend (who's motor minded) that the pollen filter could be blocked and/or damp thus creating poor air flow through the vent's,he says it's advised to have it changed every year if you do a lot of urban driving....I'll try that as well....thank's again all.
the reason you windows are steaming up is because you have water inside your car.. your aircon is helping to dry this out.

to fix this problem you need to fix your water leak. feel the underlay under your carpet to get a better idea of where it is comming in.
