Its by Phillip Glass and its from the soundtrack to the film Koyaanisqatsi.

As Mikeydred says above it is by :-

Philip Glass - Cloudscape - From the Philip Glass / Koyaanisqatsi Album /DVD - (it makes a lot more sense and actually sounds better with the original Visuals)

There is a 2nd DVD also in much the sane Genre - Powaqqatsi .

I was lucky enough to get the 2 DVD's , as a boxed set on Amazon.co.uk

Be Careful though as much of Philip Glass's work (esp. earlier ) is not as melodic as these 2 .

nope, sorry, it definately is not cloudscape. Any other suggestions?
