when you change gear from second to third the engine seems to speed up as you put the clutch down any ideas what the prblem could be thanks in advance

Sounds as though the throttle is sticking slightly which would cause the engine revs to increase when you depress the clutch as the engine would not then be under load.
Try pressing the accelerator pedal slowly with your hand to feel if it travels freely.
I agree with above, as the clutch is in no way connected to the accelerator, it must be a sticky accelerator.
