Service warning light.....how to switch it off?

Apart from the obvious, is there any way to stop my Astra displaying "INSP", letting me know that a service is due?

It's tricky but it can be done - behind the indicator there's an 'X'Y' trip switch. Click to 'Y' (which should be running along the blue wire) and hold it there with a small piece of masking tape.

The button that resets your digital miles to '0' - with the engine off, hold down. Keep held down and start engine. This will reset the onboard sensor and get rid of the INSP display.

In my experience the INSP can only be 'reset' whilst the car's in motion. You need to trip the FP clock, put the car in 2nd, and apply the handbrake and accelerator simultaneously.

Due to a technicality in law you getting a third party to do what MORELLO has suggested will enable you to get rid of the INSP without risking your no claims bonus.

I too am wondering what a no-claims bonus has to do with anything........and just what exactly is a typical Astra driver?
It just hasn't been serviced at a dealership, that's why I'm wondering about the light.

Did that.........it definitely worked........but I still don't understand the insurance problem.
I tend to agree with what MORELLO says but am still a wee bittie incredulous about any repercussions.

Bought my present car ( a corsa ) from a dealership fully serviced they forgot to reset the INSP warning light and told me how to do it - for the life of me I can't see how resetting it myself would invalidate my no-claims bonus - would someone please explain how, as I think it's a load of old bull.
