I am thinking of buying a Reliant Scimitar SS1 as a sad attempt to regain my lost youth!
Does anyone know if they run on leaded or unleaded petrol, and how easy it would be to get parts for one?

Didn't they have the old Ford v6 engine, if that's the case they will be leaded, but would be a fairly easy job to drop a more recent unleaded Ford V6 engine in it place or just buy modified heads etc, bit pricey I expect though.
no v6 it was 1300 (Later replaced by the 1400 CVH engine) and 1600 cc Ford engines were used, and later the Nissan 1800 cc Turbo engine. The car never met the sales targets and only 1500 were produced..nissan turbo engine is great (and highly tuneable)and what car magazine achieved 0-60 in only 6.6 secs- not bad for a 1987 car.Engine parts should be plentiful and the Nissan unit (the only one to go for) should run on either fuel.It shares lots of body trim from more mundane cars so should'nt be too much of a problem - but some will be tricky- wings, fr bumper for example

Thanks for the advice, I am mulling it over and trying to persuade the wife that it is a good buy!
RATTER15 is thinking of the older GTE i think
the ss1 has a ford cvh engine in it mine is a 1600cc the parts are reasonable easy to get hold of through ebay or through the reliant owners club if you also find out car the part was used on you could source it that way like i think the rear lights are capri

i might be selling mine soon what sort of money was you looking at spending
