not sure, but a brain transplant could be advisable!
i doubt you'll get anything for it- it's the drivers responsibility to be properly licensed and insured and in a fit state to drive, not yours, although common sense would say don't lend your car to a drunk without a license!!

I would say it depends upon the exact circumstances. It could be 'aiding & abetting' or 'permitting' (is that the right term?)

would you be saying 'oops' had they smashed you car up, or injured or even killed someone?

It's an offence to allow someone to drive your car without insurance.

This is a more serious case because somebody was killed but the car owner who was his mother was fined 100, 250 costs and got 6 points

I'm not sure if it's actually an offence to allow somebody to drive who's been drinking

PS I am assuming of course that he was uninsured because he didn't have a licence
Yes you're right the process of prosecution is under Use , Cause or permit. You have permitted the driver to use your vehicle knowing he/she had no licence. No licence means no insurance. You could be interviewed contempraneously and summonsed to court for this offence. Alternatively you could stipulate that you did not give the driver the authority to drive the vehicle which means they will be arrested for the offence unauthorised vehicle taking. The law has you all ways up, however if your friend was not stopped or reported then the likelihood of your prosecution is remote. Got to watch who you lend your car to
