I posted a question recently about the effectiveness of photoblocker on number plates and one of the replies said that speed cameras are here to stay, including "the high pole technology cameras" And i am curious about them..............

high pole technology is what sends polish people into space. the yanks use nasa.

Speed cameras have come of age now and the manufacturers and authorities have learned lessons from their past mistakes and experience.

The very latest type of static speed camera is sometimes referred to as high pole technology. All this means is that one of the new features of the latest camera is that it is on a mounting or pole that is substantially higher than the older and more visible GATSO type of metal box. They are growing at a huge rate around the Country although unless you field of vision is much broader you will not necessarily see them particularly in busy high street type environments.

They also use the very latest camera technology which means that a conventional film is not used and each site even has a dedicated telephone line through to the receiving station that can download the gathered offenders information. In laymans terms it is possible to be flashed and the ticket be in the post before you get home.

They still abide by the DofT's guidelines and are still reflectively painted and unobscured by fences foliage etc.

Don't get paranoid Latecomer just match the speed limit to the big hand on your speedometer and you get to spend your bank balance not the authorities.
