Clio diesel non starting
2002 Clio 1.5dci
When I turn the ignition on, all lights on the display come on as normal, except the glow-plug light. Switch off the ignition and then turn it on again repeatedly, until the glow-plug light does come on as it should - anywhere between 3 times & fifty times - at which point the engine starts perfectly. (When the light does not come on, I'm not actually turning over the engine, just simply switching on the ignition).
I know it's not simply a faulty bulb on the dash, as when the light does not come on, if I turn the key all the way, the engine will turn but not fire. Conversely, when the light does finally come on and I turn the key the whole way, it does fire up no problem. The glow plugs are new and the problem remains unchanged. The only time the coil light will come on every time, is switching on the ignition after the engine has been run to it's normal operating temperature. Once it's cooled down, it the same key turning
So it looks to me like for whatever reason, the activation of the glow-plugs themselves is intermittant. Is there one of these new fangled electronic control units in between the ignition, battery & glow-plugs??!
