Just want to check if others experience this which im sure you do or if its me!!!!

A friend of mine took nearly 6 hours to travel the northern section last Friday afternoon and the frustration must be immense. When they bring in the new regulation on Jan 1 2007 restricting new vans over 3.5 tons from the outside lane should help the impatient drivers.

My dad owns a courier company and he is mostly in the office. However he was out last Friday with one of the drivers, travelling along the M25 for the first time in 6 years. When he got back he swore that he was never going to go along the M25 again. He and the driver saw four accidents in the space of fifty minutes, sat for nearly an hour at some road works and had some idiot in front of them throw a half full coke can out of their window, which hit the van and cracked the windscreen.
He said that he sat there the whole time gripping his seat and sh!tting his pants, with artics passing the van both sides, at well over the speed limit, people cutting each other up and tailgating. Apparently it got worse when it started raining as everyone still did the same thing, but with a haze of spray obscuring their view.
His one word summary was MADNESS (and, no ~ he didn't mean the pop group!)

So why didn't you move over & let the **** past,
it always pis***s me off when i'm on the m25 on my motorbike, no matter how many lanes are empty some tos**r always sticks in the outside one & wont f****ng move over, (not really angry) i'm good for 140mph but they wont move. so i sometimes undertake and give em the wrist action.
Im done - NEXT
thanks for that

Every single road or motorway in the country is full of idiot tailgaters.
The only way to get rid of the idiot behind your car is not to brake but just slow down by taking your foot off the accelerator and leave a big gap between you and the car in front of you so you will never have to brake sharply, keep slowing down until they pass, I once had to slow down to 30mph on a motorway before the car tailgating plucked up the courage to pass me but it always works.
Don't get wound up or mad.

I have to admit i speed.. but try not to tailgate!! as i like to have a breaking distance. Sometimes i will move a little closer to hint to move over (especially if lane is empty!!)
But if i get tailgators I break!!! hard!! I know its dangerous but trust me its my own risk and they soon stop!!! (ps dont recommend it to anyone else ok) or put fogs on if they look like breaks
And whilst we are hear please move over once you have overtaken its so frustrating to see the inside lane empty!!

People tailgate for a reason... i.e the person infront is either driving too slowly (under the speed limit) or is not pulling over when it is clear to do so, which either causes a bottle neck or forces people to undertake.
I have a range rover and flash my lights before i tailgate. I flash merely to say "hello, you are in the wrong so pull over as it is now clear so i can go past". And it works because most people realise.
Of course some people think they can put their foot down and leave me... but im driving a 4.2 supercharged leather clad factory lol I'm not going anywhere.
Next time... get out of their way rather than complaining about someone tailgating or under taking you. People rarely drive do such things on purpose, it is usually because the person infront is being dangerous themselves.

caladon, let me put you straight, firstly i have already mentioned i was in the inside lane, where was i to move to the hard shoulder, secondly i was at safe distance from the lorries in front and thirdly he should of moved if i was too slow as i was right to be in the inside lane, so thank you for your comments....ironically it was a one of those stupid supercharged cars that did it funny that was it you if so next time you move over
I find some of the answers in here beyond belief. There is no excuse EVER for tailgating - it is extremely dangerous and while people shouldn't hog the middle lane (and I understand you weren't), it doesn't justify such abysmal driving. The motor cyclist who says that he (I presume it is a he) is good for 140 miles per hour is not only breaking the law, he is putting his own life and that of others at risk. This is what motorists who think it is clever to speed, tailgate, wind in and out of traffic, enter the motorway at speed without letting existing traffic right of way.... I could go on.... forget: they are in charge of lethal weapons that can destroy people's lives. Sorry to go on about this but I find it incredible that people don't understand this and don't care.
lol wouldn't have been me... I am rarely in the inside lane unless we are towing the horse trailer to a hunt.
Also, how did you know it was supercharged... if it was behind you? There is no indication of it's engine type from the front.
It is very rarely people who speed who are the cause of accidents. Statistically it is poor judgement and blatant ignorance.
So if you are going to tar with the same brush then so shall I :)

Yes the mack i was speaking generally, didnt really expect so many picky comments to come from a general statement, what i actually meant was if i wasnt on the inside lane with the idiots up my arse i was in the middle lane with other arsholess undertaking me normally those in supercharged land rovers, 4x4's and some standard run of the mill cars, dont get me wrong im no do gooder that sticks religously to the road laws and i find it infuriating when someone is in the wrong lane driving at stupid mph. So to anyone with the negative feed back thanks for your picky comments and happy motoring, hope i dont bump into you on the m25, hopefully it wont be you in a pile up!!! This is from GSXR1100tony's girlfriend by the way so dont leave him bad feedback as im using his account.
yeah i think your right! i dont drive like an "old lady" but i have had someone forcing me over on i think it was the m1 when it was rainning very, very hard (window wipers could not clear the screen a full speed) and there was little to no light and i thought i was being stupid driving at 90 but there was someone with less brains than me. who wanted to go faster and did when i got chance to move over.
