Are you talking about Metrocab v Peugot v Octavia?
As Norman says they are all licenced private hire now.

Sorry...yes I mean make of car, be it Peugeot, Skoda, Ford, Vauxhall.....estate or saloon etc.
However if you are not in London - they aren't the same.

Usually Hackney carriage's are the Black "London" style cab and private hire can be virtually whatever car you want it to be as long as it falls within the stipluations laid down by your local council.
Looking back at your answer it obviously is best if it's Diesel and has plenty of room in the boot so an estate would be better as often people want you to transport their wheelchairs and shopping around. My dad has had Peugots for years and swears by them. The new Skodas are great and very popular and often things like a Kangoo/Mondeos etc. Watch out for naything where the centre console impedes into the foot space of the rear passenegers as it usually gets kicked to death !
