Confusing the neighbours
I get my insomniac moments so I was out walking the dog at 4.30am this morning. I know my neighbours who go out early and there's been such heavy overnight frosts that I normally see them through the lounge window all toddling out with a kettle to defrost their windscreens. This morning after walking the dog I defrosted 3 of my neighbours cars that live opposite or nearby. Then I sat back to watch what would happen.....at 7am in total darkness (short of street light illumination) two neighbours wandered out at twilight with kettles - looked at their clean windscreens and rear windows - looked up the road at the frozen windscreens - looked back at theirs to compare theirs to everybody elses - paused - obviously pondered - and then walked back indoors with their full kettles sort of shaking their heads. Third one came out at daybreak with some spray, did an emergency stop on her path - looked at the nearby frosted up cars, compared them to hers and recoiled backwards into her home. Little do they know what I was doing in the early hours of this morning but I think they probably all feel that they parked their cars in a sort of hot spot and in consequence did not get iced up like all the other vehicles in the town. I think I'll do the same again tomorrow morning as their expressions of puzzlement were a picture to behold as none I think can understand with icy roads and all neighbouring iced up cars parked bumper to bumper quite why their vehicles were not all iced up the same as the rest in the road, or who on earth de-iced their car before sunrise and I don't intend telling any of them either.....heh

Maggie, if you spray de-icer on the top of a windscreen and let it run down it won't freeze up if there's only about half an hour in it between de-icing and someone using their car. I'm still sniggering at one neighbour who held a kettle in one hand and scratched his head with the other.
Your nasty, I like that though.
Reminds me of a couple of neighbours in America that were fed up with the bloke next door who had an obsession about the MPG his car did and was always telling them about it.
They decided to do something about it.
They went out at night and siphoned off a couple of gallons from his car, a couple of days later when the bloke told them his car MPG had dropped they went out and put four gallons back in, they kept doing this for about 3 months always varying the amounts, nearly drover the bloke mad.

chadad, I agree about the hot water but its surprising just how many people do it. Toureman you bring back memories here. In 1992 a mutual friend split with her husband and got a flat. For the first time in her life she decided to take driving lessons and passed her test at the age of 40. My friend and I through garage friends got her a mini. For three months we sneaked to her car park and put a gallon of petrol in her car every week (in those days there were not locks on petrol caps) she thought the choice of car that we got her was wonderful as she was driving to work and home and the petrol gauge was staying much the same. In fact she advised us that we should get rid of our own cars and get a cheap very economical mini!
Not really a car thing but.
A fellow worker, (A bit of a big head), decided to buy himself a hat to improve his image. Someone made the casual remark that "It made his head seem even bigger". This really started the ball rolling. One day we packed some paper inside the hat band, and what with the sly remarks we had him quite worried.
A couple of days later we added more paper, passed more comments, and scared him even more.
Then came bright idea number two. Someone gave him some slimming ointment and suggested he try rubbing it on his head. Amazingly it worked and his head gradually shrunk back to its original size.
Helped of course by our gradually removing the paper strips. For months afterwards, a mere glance at his head and a concerned look, was enough to make him rush to the mirror.
