How long should glow plugs last ?

A year or two back I replaced my glow plugs in my Cavalier Diesel as starting on cold mornings was a nightmare.All was fine until now with the onset of cold mornings again.
This sounds like glow plugs again to me but should they last longer than 2 years ?

low miles,but twice daily starts 5 days a week(work run).
every morning and evening it now struggles due to the cold.

I have a corsa diesel and the same things happens to me, my glow plugs were changed about 18 mnths ago but now it wont start in the cold weather.
