Noisy windscreen wipers

Why are my windscreen wipers so noisy, when there were replaced when my car was serviced only 6 weeks ago ?

Would some furniture polish applied to the rubbers do the trick ?

Yes, that might do the trick until you hit something because you can't see where your going when it smears the windscreen in the rain.
