Car clamping

I have heard that you have to be given 8 minutes before they can clamp your car - is this true? i recently had my car clamped and on the paperwork it says time of detection 11:08 and time of clamping 11:11. Just wondering if I have grounds of appeal?

As long as the parking ticket was put on your car before the clamping or even towed away you have no grounds to appeal.

some of these clampers are unscrupulous and are a law unto themselves.
and when you are parked on private land can use whatever rules they like.
there are currently moves by councils to bring in regulation of these money grabbin modern day highwaymen

baz, if you park on someone else's land surely they have a right to clamp you - as long as notices are posted.

yes but as you may have seen in some recent news articles some of these signs are misleading or not clearly displayed.
some private land is not obviously signed ie it could be a layby outside a premises or appear to be a regular council run car park.
footage was shown on a tv news report of clampers hiding behind a wall waiting for unsuspecting prey.
as soon as they had left their vehicle they pounced and then demanded a ridiculous amount of cash for removal of the clamp.
in these cases there was no time period of grace
