Getting points removed from me licence
My 3 points are due to expire in May - do I have to send my paper part of my driving licence to the DVLA to get them taken off or is this done automatically?

Thanks for the link - I see that I have to send my licence off with the APPROPRIATE FEE?!?!?!?! They are having a laugh - I had to pay a damn fine when I got the points, it is a bit of a cheek to ask me to pay more when I can have the points taken off.
What happens of I don't get them removed - surely they are not still valid. This process isn't exactly documented well is it? Funny - they guide you through the fine and points procedure but fail to tell you about removal of points - will they write to me and tell me my points have expired? I doubt it somehow! Grrrrrrrr!

There is no need to remove them. The effect is gone after 3 years (mostly) and they stay for 4. The paper copy you have is merely for your records the toting up process counts only valid points anyway. The only reason to have them removed is to avoid having a "colourful" licence, ie for job application or something. The next time time you send off for something else any expired points will be removed. For example If you change address you will get them removed for nothing.
