I have just been told that petrol stations, mainly in south east & predominately supermarket petrol stations, have had the wrong mix of petrol, causing the ENGINE MANAGEMENT LIGHT to come on in some cars. Hi-lighted in PEUGEOTS, but could obviously be other makes. For time being, I was told to use SHELL OPTIMAX or BP ULTIMATE. Anyone heard anything ??
Strange one this as my next door neighbour has a newish Kia and at the weekend the managment light came on ,he took it to the local Kia dealer who gave the story "problem with the petrol down here" (Kent ) also said had many cars in that weekend same problem. reset computer and all o.k. Thats all I am going to say.
Its probably the knock sensor in the engine management system. It is possible that the petrol sold in some places is closer to the minimum 95 Octane figure for standard unleaded, which could cause a sensor to trigger more often. Looked at it the other way, some companies maybe along themselves a greater margin by enhancing the Octane figure a bit.
Is that my car I can hear coughing or is it people choking on humble pie lol. Just goes to show some people think they know everything and actually know jack. Well done has - respect is due.
