hi my partner has a vw polo petrol automatic and when you drive it and accelerate it really clunks/jolts between 1st and 2nd gear but only at the start of a journey does anyone have any ideas as to what this could be??? Thanks.

sounds like the sincros which slow down or speed up the gears are going, it will proberbly meen a new gear box or haveing the box striped, it will be expensiv either way, soz.

thanks for the answers yes its an old car ie v reg but its only done 18,000 genuine miles ????

yes v 99 and it probably has not had a fluid change .will this help and is it and easy/inexpensive job????
