honda cbr 600 (fy) ticking noise
4 Answers
hi,
is there anyone out there with any ideas? my year 2000 cbr 600 fy has developed a ticking / vibrating noise which comes from the right hand side of the engine. this noise can be heard on tick over and when the bike is running at a steady rpm (3000ish). the bike is mint and has a full service history having covered 16500mls.
at first i thought it was the shims which needed doing as honda say they due at between 16-21k but im told that its totally the wrong sound for this. the bike rides and handles as it has always done - 100% it has no loss of power and it does not consume any oil. i cannot feel the ticking when i touch the head.
any ideas? its puzzled many.
thanks.

My bikes doing exactly the same. Ive been thrawling through the forums and think this is the most likely answer:
"The cam chain tensioner needs to be replaced. It is ~$50 and a half hour of your time tops on an F3. I went through a couple of them on my F3."
Ill be nipping down to the mechanics this weekend to get his advice.
